History Will Teach Us - Capo Fourth Fret

Notes: This song was written 8/23/2009 at 9:52 AM. I was starting to play guitar again after a long break.
When I came up with what sounded like a song I used my iPhone's Voice Memos feature and started recording.
What resulted is the following eight songs. They're short, not very complicated but some are quite revealing.
All contain a part of me and mean more to me than anyone will know. The first one is a song filled with
hope. By the end of the eighth song I'd like to think that the songs come full circle.

G
History will teach us

History will teach us
       C
Not to give up
       G
Not to give up

History will show us

History will show us
       C
Not to give up
         G
It'll be alright
        D C
But you look at me tonight
    D C
you look at me tonight
    D C
you look at me tonight
     G
It's alright.

Don't Want To Leave It All Behind

Notes: This song was written 8/23/2009 at 2:11 PM. I think we all have our internal struggles. Some of us more than others.

D
I don't want to leave it all

I don't want to leave it all
    C G D
But part of me just wants to go

I don't want to leave my home

But I don't know where else go
C G D
Part of me just wants to go

      C G
But I don't, don't, don't want to leave it all
C G
Don't, don't, don't want to leave it all

D
I don't want to say you're wrong

But I'm afraid to say I'm right
       C G D
Either way I can't sleep at night

All I want is to rock and roll

But I don't know which way to go
  C G D
I don't know which way to go

    C G
But I don't, don't, don't want to leave it all
C G
Don't, don't, don't want to leave it all

Nobody's Saying What To Do

Notes: This song was written 8/31/2009 at 9:54 PM. This was a very difficult song for me. I recorded it but when I went back to it I couldn't figure out what chords I
had used so I re-wrote it. It's close but not quite what was recorded. In a way, this version is slightly better.

C
Everybody's got an opinion

Everybody's saying it is true

Everybody's got all the answers

Everyone that is except you

Am G C Am
Everybody's saying it is so wrong oh oh
         G C
Nobody's saying what to do
Am G C Am
Everybody's saying it is so wrong oh oh
         G C
Nobody's saying what to do

You Give It All Away

Notes: This song was written 9/12/2009 10:08 PM. During this time I was listening to two very different artists: Tyrone Wells and Linkin Park.
Everyone knows Linkin Park. Tyrone Wells is a soulful singer and is just on the cusp of something really big. Some of his music has been
featured in Grey's Anatomy ads on television. He was on tour with Better Than Ezra and I got to see him live. I liked what I heard so I went out
and purchased two of his records. A couple of his songs really struck a chord - literally. I learned how to play a few of his songs and really
like the song More. I recorded a version of that song during this time and would consider that song number nine in this group of eight songs.
Number ten would be the Bill Withers classic Ain't No Sunshine.

Cadd9
You give it all away
                 F
then you want it back.
             Cadd9
Every single day
                 F
there's no going back.
                Cadd9
You give it all away
                      F
and then you want it back.
                Cadd9
You give it all away
                     F
but there's no going back.
G D
Everybody wants it all
           C G
but you're saving a piece of your soul for yourself.
Cadd9 F Cadd9 F

Going Home Again - Capo Fourth Fret

Notes: This song was written 10/21/2009 at 8:54 PM. I was trying to write something a bit upbeat
compared to what I had been writing. It's the perfect way to end this group of songs. There are
only four words and four chords in this song and it's more of a chorus than a song but I like its
simplicity. There's an awkward change in the middle that I like as well.

C Am F G C Am F G
Going home, going home again
C Am F G C Am

Loyalty

G
Everyone's looking to live
        C
But you take their lives
G
Everyone wants their own place
         C
But your gun's between their eyes
           G
There's no loyalty in the world
           C
There's no love anymore
    G
You show your appreciation
       C
As you walk them out the door
G
No one ever knows
C
No one ever sees
G
No one ever wins
         C
When you have them on their knees
         G
You just take what you can
             C
While you're able to again
          G
You don't care for other guys
          C
While you ruin all their lives
G C G C
Oh

G
Everyone's looking to live
        C
But you take their lives
G
Everyone wants their own place
         C
But your gun's between their eyes
           G
There's no loyalty in the world
           C
There's no love anymore
    G
You show your appreciation
       C
As you walk them out the door
G
No one ever questions
C
No one ever asks
G
No one gets ahead
            C
When you're stabbing them in the backs
             G
So take your bonus and your cash
   C
We know you're just an ass
            G
You're just in it for yourself
          C
While the others can fuck themselves
           G
There's no loyalty in the world
           C
There's no love anymore
    G
You show your appreciation
       C
As you walk them out the door
           G
There's no loyalty in the world
           C
There's no love anymore

The Ole Misty Holler Project

I love music. It's helped me get through some difficult times in my life.

Music helps me deal with stress and when I'm really stressed out I will retreat to a
room by myself and start to play the guitar, ukulele or mandolin.

Sometimes a song will come out but more often than not it's just some noise. But over
the past year it's been very different. There's really no other way to describe it other
than to say that this fictional place has been speaking to me and much like the Corleone
family it keeps dragging me back in.

The place is Ole Misty Holler. It's a village that sits in a beautiful valley off of Ole
Misty Highway in Ole Misty County Kentucky.

There are only a few hundred people that live in Ole Misty Holler and they lead a quiet,
simple way of life.

Our main characters are a musician and the woman of his dreams. The musician is torn between
the woman he loves, his career and the Holler - the place that he wants to escape from but
can never quite get out of his heart.

There are 12 songs and it took over a year to complete. Most of the songs in this project
were written out of order. I had the basic story in my head and knew what I wanted to say
but sometimes music doesn't always work in chronological order.

I wrote this album in secret. No one including those closest to me knew I was making it.
I wanted absolutely no outside influence while I was putting it together. I didn't want
someone's opinion to sway me one way or another. I just wanted to write the record I wanted
to write. Now I just need to record it properly

When I wrote these songs I had a Broadway play in mind. It's probably why most of these songs
have the same structure and flow.

I hope you enjoy Ole Misty Holler as much as I do.

So sit back, grab your banjo and some bourbon and have yourself a good time.

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 1: Walk Around

Note: The story begins in Ole Misty Holler with our musician and his lover. They've recently started dating
and each have that glow - that feeling of newness and excitement. I think we've all been there at least
once in our lives. This song was written on 2/27/2013 at 7:44 PM for the tenor ukulele.

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 2: Ole Misty County

Note: While on the way to Nashville a record company executive's car breaks down in Ole Misty County.
It just so happens to be the night of the annual county talent show and since his car cannot be fixed
until the next day our executive decides to attend the event. Our musician not only wins the show but
lands a record deal. The catch? He needs to move to Nashville to start his career. He pleads with his
lover to go with him. This song was written on 4/12/2013 at 9:11 PM for the guitar.

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 3: Better In Time

Our musician pleads with his lover to go with him to Nashville but she decides to stay in the Holler.
They both know that their relationship has changed forever. This was written on 10/28/2012 at 4:00 PM
and then updated on 5/9/2019 at 7:00 AM. This was the first thing I wrote right after getting a new Kamaka
ukulele. They say that a Kamaka ukulele contains a little bit of the spirit of the person who made it.
Since a lot of my songs were written on that ukulele there may be some validity to that theory. This
song was rewritten for the guitar.

G C
Walking through this life
G C
Your hand wrapped in mine
G C
The whole world on our minds
G C
We're running out of time (I think that we both know that...)
Am C G
It will get better in time
Am C G

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 4: I Love You More Than You Do

Note: Our musician has gone to Nashville and his lover, a grade school teacher in the
Holler, decides to stay behind. Before he left our couple got into an argument, things
were said and both sides were hurt. This song was written on 12/21/2012 at 5:01 PM for
the tenor ukulele. This is one of the few songs on the record written from the lover's
point of view. Sometimes a song takes a while to come out. I started writing this song
at least ago for the guitar and it never went anywhere. It just didn't seem to have any
life. I revisited the song recently mostly because I felt it had something it really
wanted to say. I decided to write it for the ukulele instead of the guitar and changed
the way it was sung. I then began to look at the chorus in a different way and added a
second verse. It was at this point that the song began to take on a life of its own.
Music has a funny way of doing that sometimes.

C G
Now the time has gone
    F G
The time has changed it's rearranged
C G
Now what we've done

We've broken it it's all erased

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 5: Ole Misty Holler

Note: Our musician goes to Nashville and starts work on recording his first album. Heartbroken
over the loss of the woman he loves he decides to focus all of his energy on his career. His
album is a success and this is his first single. He hopes the people back in Ole Misty Holler
will hear his song on the radio and will miss him as much as he misses them.

One day I was getting a little bored so I decided that I was going to learn another instrument.
I picked up a mandolin and spent a better part of a month learning Eddie Vedder's Rise. After
driving myself crazy with it I decided to write my own song and this is what happened. It was
written on 3/24/2013 at 11:11 AM.

This is the cornerstone to the whole project. Up to this point I was writing a lot of music with
similar themes but didn't know where it was all going. When Ole Misty Holler happened there was
that moment of Zen we sometimes get when we are working on something where all of a sudden
everything just clicks and makes sense.

Ole Misty Holler is the center that holds it all together. After I wrote this song everything
got easier and the rest of the album wrote itself.

It's also the end of Act 1 in the story. After this song was written I knew what I wanted to do
and started to figure out how I wanted it laid out. I wanted it to work in many ways. I saw this
project in terms of a movie, a novel, an album and also a stage play.

Songs one through five would be Act 1. Songs six through nine would make up Act 2 and songs ten
through twelve would be Act 3. In the stage play a reprise of Ole Misty Holler would be played
at the end. It would also play over the end credits of the movie.

I'm really proud of this song. It was the start of something really special for me.

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 6: These Are Those Songs

Note: Our musician is on the road touring to support his new record. His lover spends
her time teaching. While she is correcting papers at night she listens to music and
every song reminds her of him. She misses him terribly and begins to question her
decision to stay in the Holler. This song was written between 8/9/2012-8/11/2012 for

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 7: Spook Hill

Note: Our musician has been away from the Holler and his home on Spook Hill for a while now.
Living in Nashville, life on the road and living the rock and roll lifestyle is beginning to
take its toll. He is in desperate need of a break and is starting to feel the pull to return
home. He just can't decide if it's the right time. Should he go forward or should he go back?

Spook Hill is a real place in Florida. You put your car in neutral at the bottom of the hill,
take your foot off of the brake and watch as your car appears to roll UP the hill instead of down.
I love the name Spook Hill and felt it would fit perfectly in the story so I made it the name

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 8: Ole Misty Highway

Note: Our musician decides to take some time off and go home to visit. He
tries once again to convince his lover to come with him to Nashville. Life
must have balance and I feel the same way about music. It's why I felt this
song needed to start and end with the same words: I went back for you. This
song was written on 4/1/2013 at 5:26 PM. When I originally put this song
together I wrote it for the mandolin but I felt it sounded too cheery. It was
missing that contrast so I re-wrote the song for the guitar.

G
I went back for you

Went back home
  C G
I wasn't sure you'd be alone

Took some time apart and

Thought of what we had
        C G
But the heart I lost was yours at last

  D C G
I went down that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went down that long country road
  D C G
I went down that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went back for you and my home

G
Walked up the porch and

Knocked on the door
    C G
Saw everything I was waiting for

Asked me in and gave me

A nice cold beer
  C G
I heard what I didn't want to hear

  D C G
I went down that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went down that long country road
  D C G
I went down that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went back for you and my home

G
Looking back now

Probably shouldn't have gone
  C G
I know now it wasn't wrong

I still love you

I know you feel the same
    C G
But that won't ease the pain

     D C G
So I went back that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went back that long country road
  D C G
I went back that Ole Misty Highway
  D C G
I went back for you now you're gone
  D C G
I went back for you now you're gone
  D C
I went back for you...

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 9: Holiday

Our musician's lover once again rejected an offer to go to Nashville. As soon as her
musician's truck pulled out of the driveway she started to cry. It is possible she may
never see him again. She couldn't imagine a life without him but reality is sometimes
a harsh pill to swallow. This song was written 10/19/2012 6:01 PM for the Soprano/Tenor
Ukulele

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 10: So Why Don't You

Note: Frustrated, bitter and alone our musician returns to Nashville to begin
work on his second album. Unlike his first record which was happy and upbeat the
new album is completely the opposite. He hates it so much he decides to scrap the
whole thing. The music just won't speak to him and the record company begins to
put on the pressure. He wanted the fame and fortune but never expected to lose
everything in the process. This song was written on 8/12/2013 at 8:09 PM for the
tenor ukulele.

C CM7 F G C

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 11: So Sorry, So Wrong

Note: It's late in the evening in Ole Misty Holler. Our musician's lover is in the
process of reading some of her student's essays. There's a knock at the door. She
opens it to see our musician. She goes to him. He holds her tight and passionately
kisses her. They tell each other that they're sorry and that there's no place they
would rather be than with each other. He gets down on one knee and asks her to marry
him. This song was written on 6/15/2011 at 12:30 PM. There's nothing more romantic
than calling yourself an asshole. :)

Intro F

F G F
I acted like a real asshole
                                  G F
Said some things I shouldn't have said
                            G F
Made you feel like you were worthless
                          G
But you are still my everything

            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
                    G
So I wrote you this song...

So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F

So I wrote you this song...

F G F
But I think that you still love me
                          G F
Despite everything that I said
                  G F
But I'm still an asshole
                          G
And you are still my everything

            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong

So sorry, so wrong
            C CM7 F
So sorry, so wrong

So I wrote you this song...

Ole Misty Holler Chapter 12: Holla In The Holler

Note: Our musician builds a studio in his home on Spook Hill and finishes his second
album. To celebrate the record's release he decides to throw a party in the Holler.
The Holler rocks into the night as he and his wife dance to the sweet, sweet sound.

This song was written on 7/8/2013 at 8:12 PM for the tenor ukulele and then updated
on 5/17/2019 at 6:45 AM for the guitar.

Thanks for reading. I have really enjoyed the trip through Ole Misty Holler. I hope
you did too. Someday I will get a band together and record these songs. Maybe then we
can check in on our characters and see what they are up to. Will they still be together?

Either way, always remember to grab your banjo and some bourbon and have yourself a good time.

Chris

Your Heartland by Chris Morin written 12/18/2013 7:58 PM for the guitar

Note: I was driving through Indiana and the line scarecrows, silos and cell phone towers stuck in my head.
A few weeks later I tried to write a song with that line in the chorus and it just didn't work. I liked the
lyric so much that I couldn't let it go. I decided to scrap the song and decided to use it as the first line
of Heartland instead.

Prisoner Of Alcatraz by Chris Morin written 4/14/2014 7:09 PM for the Guitar

Note: In December of 2013 I took a tour of Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. While I looked around the old prison I was amazed
by the view. Inmates could see the Golden Gate Bridge and the city of San Francisco from the island. It must have driven some
of the prisoners mad knowing that freedom was so close. I bought Lynne a couple of souveniers from the trip. One of them was a
reproduction of a cup that was given to the inmates. She keeps the cup on her bureau. One night I was playing guitar and kept
looking at this cup. I started writing. My intent was to write a love song about a prisoner and his lover. But the song took on
a life of its own and morphed into a song about San Francisco. Our inmate stares at the streets cut into the hills of San
Francisco and is amazed by the the path of its veins. He hopes and prays that San Francisco will save him but he knows deep
down inside he'll never leave the prison.

I kept this song very simple. I was toying with the idea of writing a chorus but after a while I felt it didn't need one. In
fact a chorus would probably ruin the song. I think this would be a good end to a record.

The C* portion of the song is played by playing a normal C chord then adding the third fret on the B string then lifting,
then lifting and placing down the index finger on the B string.

The F7M* portion of this song is played by lifting the index finger then placing it back down.

C
I sit here
C* F7M F7M* F7M
Sit here and think of you
      C
And I wonder
C* F7M F7M* F7M
Wonder what you do
  C
I look
C* F7M F7M* F7M
Look at the path of your veins
      C
And I love you
C* F7M F7M* F7M
My love for you won't wane
      G F
And I sit here with my tin cup and think of you...

C* F7M F7M* F7M

Sweet Face Woman by Chris Morin written 4/14/2014 for the Guitar

Note: You never know where a song will come from. One morning Lynne was giving herself a facial. She came out of the bathroom
with this goo on her face. It had a greenish tint so I started singing "Green Face Woman you're out of control..." It was so
simple but I liked it. I changed the title to Sweet Face Woman and there you have it - two minutes of musical awesomeness. :)

Melbourne City - written by Chris Morin on 8/17/2014 at 12:01 AM for the guitar.

C
Storm clouds on the road to Melbourne City
                                 F
Thunder in the wind and the rain too
                       C
Lightening in the air, life is so unfair
G C
Every time we think of me and you

It's a long drive to Melbourne City
                                 F
You are strangely quiet and I am too

You like to nit and pick while me I'm just a dick

Every time we think of me and you

F C

So let's drive down to Melbourne City
                              F
Maybe a dance and some dinner too

But love's not in the air and life sure ain't fair

Let's not go back to Melbourne City

Don't Go Near Her - by Chris Morin written 1987-1989/August 29, 2014 for the guitar.

Note: This is one of the very first songs I ever wrote. I wrote it back when I was in high school.
I haven't played it in years and last week I started playing it again. I decided to change the title
and the chorus because I felt it would make it a better song. Those who read between the lines can
probably figure out what this is song all about. It's a pretty dark song to be written by a teenager.

Am C Em Am Em
You came into her room at 3am.
Am C Em Am Em
Why? I'll never understand.
Am C Em Am Em
How can you look in the mirror again?
Am C Em Am Em Am
How can you call yourself a man?

D C
Saw what he could do.
D C
Saw what he did to you.
D C Em Am Em Am
Don't go near her at all
D C

D C

D C Em Am Em Am

D C Em Am Em Am

All My Waking Hours - by Chris Morin written September 14, 2014 10:15 AM for the ukulele and guitar.

Note: It has been a while since I sat down and wrote a song on the ukulele. This one
started as a line that got stuck in my head - Every Waking Hour. I picked up the ukulele
and started picking. After a bit I knew what I wanted to do and just starting writing quick
lines starting with the word every. After playing with the format I was able to get what I wanted.

I wrote this song as a prequel to the songs in my Ole Misty Holler project. It would take
place before our musician and his grade school teacher girlfriend started dating. I just
can't seem to leave these two people alone.

              C
Every dawning day
             G
Every rising moon
               F
Every crashing wave
               G
Everything you do
              C
Every darkest dream
              G
Every tallest tree
              F
Every crystal stream
               G
Everything but me

              F G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F
I can only think of you
                       G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F G
It's all I do

             C
Every golden ring
             G
Every stormy cloud
                F
Every slightest thing
              G
Everything so loud
               C
Every sweetest touch
             G
Every gentle kiss
                F
Everything that hurts
             G
Everything I miss

              F G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F
I can only think of you
                       G
All my waking hours oh oh
         C G F G
It's all I do

            F G
So I try to see
           C F
If you are every thing every thing to me
                     G
But you don't see oh no
C G F G
me

            C
Every worst fear
           G
Every last tear
           F
Every hope lost
           G
Every coin tossed
            C
Every night gone
             G
Every single song
              F
Every one but me
              G
Who you never see

              F G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F
I can only think of you
                       G
All my waking hours oh oh
         C G F G
It's all I do
              F G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F
I can only think of you
                       G
All my waking hours oh oh
           C G F G C

Don't Care - by Chris Morin written 5/11/2015 7:55 PM on the ukulele.

Note: This bouncy little pop song that I wrote on the ukulele has only three chords and it's a little under three minutes.
It would easily translate into a punk song. I hadn't been playing any instruments for about five months. I recently picked
up my uke and in about fifteen minutes had this song all figured out.

People ask me if I write about myself in these songs. I do and I don't. There may be a tidbit here and there in these songs
that may be about me but a little of that can go a long way and it can also seem very self serving - sort of like this rambling
explanation. It's one of the reasons why I created Ole Misty Holler. I could escape into this other world and be completely
free to write whatever I wanted. There are some songs that are very autobiographical though. Blue Jeans and T-Shirts is about
as real as it gets. I pull no punches in that one.

C
I don't even know if I love you
I don't even know if I care
I don't even know if I like you
I just want you back over here

     F
So I try
  C
I try
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care

C
I don't even know if I miss you
I don't even know if I care
I'm not sure if I should even kiss you
Or run my fingers through your hair

     F
So I try
  C
I try
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care

C
I don't think that I could live without you
In the end I guess I really do care
I don't think that's gonna work for you
You told me to get the F outta here

     F
So I try
  C
I try
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care
  G F
I try to make you love me while I
           C
Just don't care
  G F
I tried to make you love me
  G F
I tried to make you love me
  G F
I tried to make you love me
          C
But you don't care

My Bittersweet - February 7, 2017 11:53am written on a plane from London to Tampa.

G C
Walking down the street in the early AM
G C
The roads are empty except for a man
G C G C
Walking his dog as fast as he can

G
Hoods up, the wind shrieks its chilling shrill
C
Climbing the steps of the great, big hill
G C
The goats, the sheep, the cold but I am still

G C
Leaving you and I won't be back
               G
Won't be back again
                 C
I won't be back again

My bittersweet

G C
Alice, the rabbit and of course the hatter
G C
The promenade, the venue but it just won't matter
G C G C
Sainsbury's, you and me never been sadder

G
Juicy bits, taxi fits, the big game, up all night
C
You and me, fun and free, won't be the same, schlubs all right
G C
     Yet you called me tonight
G C
     Yet you called me tonight

G C
Leaving you and I won't be back
               G
Won't be back again

Break And Die - written 4/26/2017 7:54pm.

Note: This is a very sad song. I almost threw it away.

Irma (Treat Me Well) - written September 12, 2017 4:00 PM - September 13, 6:45 PM

Note: I am so much more creative and productive when my stress level is low. That seems to happen when I spend less time at work. Coincidence?
I haven't picked up my guitar in a while so I decided to pick it up and write a song. It's about the cycles we get in and how it's so hard to break them.

          C
I had a woman who went away
      Am F
But I knew she'd be back some day
             C
And when she did it wasn't right
           Am F
Instead of love all we did was fight

            C
So treat me well, my honey
           Am F
Before you break my heart today
         C
Treat my well, my honey
           Am F
Before you take your love away
         C Am
Treat me well
            C Am
Oh treat me well

             C
She loves to love me all night long
        Am F
But she won't listen to my songs
          C
I buy her jewels and wicked awesome things
          Am F
Expensive trips and diamond rings

            C
So treat me well, my honey
           Am F
Before you break my heart today
         C
Treat my well, my honey
           Am F
Before you take your love away
         C Am
Treat me well
            C Am
Oh treat me well

         C
I had a woman who went away again
        Am F
And she said she wanted to be friends
             C
And when she did it wasn't right
                  Am F
She would call me over to stay the night

            C
So treat me well, my honey
           Am F
Before you break my heart today
         C
Treat my well, my honey
           Am F
Before you take your love away
         C Am
Treat me well
            C Am
Oh treat me well

            C
Now here we are not talking again
          Am F
No longer lovers no longer friends
             C
I just got a text she's lonely tonight
              Am F
I jump in the car why does this feel so right?

            C
So treat me well, my honey
           Am F
Before you break my heart today
         C
Treat my well, my honey
           Am F
Before you take your love away
         C Am
Treat me well
            C Am
Oh treat me well
         C Am
Treat me well
         C

Note: I was driving to work when I saw this woman who must have been 90 years old puttering along in the fast lane with her dog on her lap.
She was going 20 miles an hour below the speed limit and didn't have a care in the world. I envied that woman. This two minute punk song is for her and her dog.

        C G
You got gray hair and you drive too slow
       C G

Kiss In The Morning - written March 30, 2018 at 3:00 PM.

Note: Every morning before Lynne went to work she would kiss my cheek while I was brushing my teeth.
She started going into work early and we stopped seeing each other before work. One day I texted her
and told her that I missed her kiss on my cheek in the morning. I liked the line so much I wrote a song
about it. I decided to make it a sad song since it just seemed like it would work better.

  C
I miss your kiss on my cheek in the morning
I miss your sweet smile in the warm summer sun
    F
The warm summer sun
                C
The warm summer sun
I want you right beside me honey
I miss your lovin' and your sweet, sweet fun
     F
Your sweet, sweet fun
                  C
Your sweet, sweet fun
  G
I feel the cold winter breezes blowing
    F NC
But most of all I miss your kiss
       C F
in the morning
            C F
Kiss in the morning
   C
So come back now baby to me honey
My love for you cannot be undone
          F
What have we done?
          C
What have we done?
The leaves are falling from the sky my darling
My heart it breaks I am overcome
   F
My heart is done
   C
My world is gone
  G
I feel the cold winter breezes blowing
    F NC
But most of all I miss your kiss
       C F
in the morning
            C F
Kiss in the morning
  G
I feel the cold winter breezes blowing
    F NC
But most of all I miss your kiss
       C F
in the morning
            C F
Kiss in the morning

See You Smile - written 4/5/2018 at 3:15 PM.

Note: It's a simple love song originally written for the guitar but it is so much nicer on a ukulele.
It's a perfect bookend to Kiss In The Morning.

  C
I just want to see a smile on your face
I just want to see your frown go away
  F
I just want to see you
        C
See you happy
  G
I just want to see a smile
        C
On your face
  G
I just want to see a smile
        C
On your face

C
I just want to see your troubles away
I just want to love you every day
  F
I want to be with you
        C
Be with you
  G
I just want to see a smile
        C
On your face
  G
I just want to see a smile
        C
On your face

    G
You make me happy and you make me smile
    C
You make me happier than I’ve been in a while
     G
Your beauty it moves me more than you'll know
         D
So let’s go...

  G
I just want to see a smile on your face

ME - I started writing this song in early May of 2018 and finished it on May 17, 2018 at 7:00 AM. I
wrote a whole bunch of lyrics, chose the best ones and put together the chorus. Once that was done I
wrote the lyrics to the verses. I didn't like the music very much so I threw it all out and simplified
everything. I recorded it on a guitar but felt like it sounded better on a ukulele. I like the way it
came out.

            C F G
Do you need love, life or just a friend?
         C F G
I can be all of that baby, I can pretend
    C F G
But please oh please don’t you leave me

Baby I don’t know what you need
C F G

A Week Of Waiting - written on June 25, 2018 at 3:44 AM. Early morning music making. If you can't sleep you may as well create something.
This song started out so much more complicated and the first draft looked more like a poem than a song. In a way it works better as a poem.
I was trying to play with alliteration and ambiguity. Is the writer tired of waiting? Is he just impatient? Is it a little of both or something
entirely different? I really had a good time blurring the lines. When I listen to a song most of the times I don't really want to know what
the song is all about. In a way that ruins a song for me. I want to interpret the song my way and make up my own story. Unless you know the
original intent of a song, if there is one, you're free to do whatever you want with the story and sometimes that's wicked awesome.

               C G F C
I would take a million Monday’s spent with you
                        G F
I would take a thousand Tuesdays too
      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

        C G F C
I would wait and wonder and wish on Wednesdays
            G F
Thinking on those Thursdays of what to do
      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

    C G F C
But how many weeks will I worry alone?
         G F C
How many days not picking up the phone?
             G
A month or a year?
         F C
But just lonely tears
            G F
The time it just passes by
             G C
Time it just passes us by...

      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

  C G F C
I fear on Fridays. What am I to do?
                G F C
Saturdays still searching...Sundays praying for you
      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

                              G F C
I would give up the week, the world, all of it and more
                     G F C
I mean really, isn't that what...love is for?
      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

    C G F C
But how many weeks will I worry alone?
         G F C
How many days not picking up the phone?
             G
A month or a year?
         F C
But just lonely tears
            G F
The time it just passes by
             G C
Time it just passes us by...

      C G F C
But I can't wait a single moment more
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you
                  G C
Not a single more moment for you

You Are My Everywhere - Written Fall 2017. I started writing a poem months ago and kept battling with
grammar and tense. After fighting with it for a while I gave in and decided it didn't matter. I'm writing
it for myself so as long as I'm happy with it then why should I care what other people think? After I
finished the poem I read it a few times and discovered there was a song in it so I wrote a chorus and
some chords. I hope you hear the music in this poem like I did. It was a lot of fun to put together.

            C G
You are the distant bright stars that I look up to
         C G
And that tallest mountain I hike up to
            C G
You are the deep, wide ocean that I like to cross
         C G
And that peaceful, long drive through the snow and the frost
            C G
You are the sorry for all I didn't want to scare
            C G
And are the only one who gives me love and sweet care
  F G
I know that I cannot live without
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
  F G
I know that I cannot live without
  F G
I know that I cannot live, live without
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere

The summer rains die while the winter leaves fall
       C G
Took a walk in the forest to watch the redwoods grow tall
           C G
While your respect for me slowed to that last painful crawl
     C G
Took you for granted but was never quite aware
       C G
That I shamefully lost all your love and sweet care
  F G
I know that I cannot live without
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
  F G
I know that I cannot live without
  F G
I know that I cannot live, live without
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
C G
You, you, you are my everywhere
  F G
I know that I cannot live without

I know that I cannot live, live without

My Life Is So Much Better With You In It - Written May 2018. This is another one that started as a poem.

Poem:

I know you are hurting and I hurt for you
But heaven will have to wait some more time
Because I love you and want to make you mine
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it

I know life is uncertain but one thing isn't
You are stronger than you know and you'll be just fine
Because I need to love you and make you mine
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it

The pain it hurts and your heart feels like it is breaking
This isn't the end but the beginning of our time
You want to love me too and that's more than just fine
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it

So look now forward not to the end but a new start
Find it in yourself and mend that beautiful heart
Feel the joy, hope, love and everything that comes with it
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it

Song:

C G F C G

My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it
Yeah!

Heaven will have to wait for its own time
I’m gonna love you baby and make you mine
Yeah!

I want you baby right next to me
You know it’s always been meant to be
I’m gonna love you baby for history
You’re gonna love me too yessiree
Yeah!

My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it
Yeah!

So look now forward not to the end
I’m gonna love you baby and be your friend
Yeah!

So let’s go and make that brand new start
Find it in yourself and mend your heart
Feel the hope and love that comes with it
My life is so much better with you in it

My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it
My life is so much better with you in it
Yeah!

Backroads - Written July 2018. I wrote a ton of music in a very short amount of time.
I wanted to take some time off but my mind wouldn't let me. This one's not quite done.
I need some music.

Driving through the backroads of my mind
Wondering where to go and how far
With you on my mind but nothing but the pain in my heart
Driving through the backroads of my mind

Dreaming of a future with you
But knowing I'm just nothing to you
I'm not on your mind and not in your heart and I know what I must do
Knowing I'm just nothing to you

But the backroads fill my mind, fill my time
The backroads of my life on the line
The backroads they do curve, they do bend and they do swerve
Backroads fill my mind, lost my nerve
Backroads fill the time, lost my nerve

Wandering all my life all the time
Wandering in the deep places in my mind
Lost in thought and lost the time loving you was never a crime
Driving through the backroads of my mind

Dreaming of a place far from here
Away from all the hurt and the tears
Away from you and all that’s dear away from all the deep dark fears
Dreaming of a place far from here

Driving through the backroads of my mind
        F C G
But the backroads fill my mind, fill my time
        F C G
The backroads of my life on the line
    F C G C
The backroads they do curve, they do bend and they do swerve
    F C G
Backroads fill my mind, fill my time
    F C G
Backroads fill my mind, fill my time

But the fork has come
Do I stay or do I run?
If I go it can’t be undone
If I go it can’t be undone

But the backroads fill my mind, fill my time
The backroads of my life on the line
The backroads they do curve, they do bend and they do swerve
Backroads fill my mind, lost my nerve
Backroads fill the time, lost my nerve

No Halo - Written June 2018. Capo First Fret. This song isn't very complicated. Truth, Wonder, No Halo, Blue Yes and Sweet Rain
make up my Truth Series. Many years have passed since our musician and his grade school teacher wife have been together in Ole
Misty Holler. Things haven't worked out for the better. I wanted to write a few songs from each of their perspective. What if
they both said what was on their minds without thinking of the other's feelings? It would be brutal.

Wonder - written 7/13/2018-7/15/2018. This song started as one line that popped into my head one morning
when I was driving to work at about 7:55 AM. I quickly hit the voice recorder app and recorded the lyric.
It then wrote itself pretty quickly. Sometimes you just have to write a thought down and then see what
happens. Truth, Wonder, No Halo, Blue Yes and Sweet Rain make up my Truth Series. Many years have passed
since our musician and his grade school teacher wife have been together in Ole Misty Holler. Things haven't
worked out for the better. I wanted to write a few songs from each of their perspective. What if they both

Blue Yes - Written July 31, 2018. I recently had a procedure in a hospital. During my stay
the doctor asked me which side of my body they were working on. I told him the right hand
side and then he wrote something on me. I forgot all about it until I took a shower the next
day. There in all its glory was the word Yes in blue. A few days later it was still there
although a bit faded. I figured I would write a song about it. Truth, Wonder, No Halo, Blue Yes
and Sweet Rain make up my Truth Series. Many years have passed since our musician and his grade
school teacher wife have been together in Ole Misty Holler. Things haven't worked out for the
better. I wanted to write a few songs from each of their perspective. What if they both said
what was on their minds without thinking of the other's feelings? It would be brutal.

C F
You went away
                   G C F
But it’s the three letters I wanted you to say
                 G C F
When I turned to you and asked you to stay
           G C
And it was me that drove you away
F G F
No matter the reason why
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
F G F
Not the yes I wanted to find
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
C F
So go and live your life
              G C F
Even though I felt like you had lied
          G C F
I want to run and scream and cry
       G C F
And my heart felt like it had died
F G F
No matter the reason why
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
F G F
Not the yes I wanted to find
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
C F
I will be fine
                 G C F
Even though it's going to take some time
               G C F
Even though at times I lose my mind
                       G C F
I will always have the blue yes on my side
F G F
No matter the reason why
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
F G F
Not the yes I wanted to find
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side
F G F
But I can say I tried
            G F
Even as you waved goodbye
                       G C F
I will always have the blue yes on my side
                       G C F
I will always have the blue yes on my side
                       G C
I will always have the blue yes on my side

If You Knew Her - written August 29, 2018 - Kind of a fun quirky song.

C G C G C G C G

C G D G
I would walk away from all I have
C G D
She’s a big risk they say
C G D G
I won’t let that get in my way
C G D
I want her today
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand

C G C G C G C G

C G D G
Can’t afford her rich life
C G D
Can’t afford her clothes
C G D G
Can’t afford her all of the time
C G D
But I want her I know
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand
C G D G
If you knew her you would understand

C G D G
She takes away my breath every time

When she smiles at me
C G D G
I am lost in her fantasy

So glad you didn’t say yes
C G D G

Definitely - I wrote a poem while I was on a trip to Washington State on July 4-8, 2018. I wrote down some of what I had seen
and random thoughts. When I was done I thought I had a song. I couldn't make it work so I trimmed it way down and months later
on 11/21/2018 I wrote this for the guitar. This is about waiting for that perfect someone.

If You Were To Say No (Definitely II) - written 12/18/2018 at 7:26 AM. We are back in Ole Misty Holler. Our musician has asked

Because Of Christmas - written 12/25/2018. I wrote a Christmas song about a person who's lost someone special.
Because of Jesus's birth and what was to follow this person knows they will see that person again in heaven.

C G D G
C G D

    C G
The time it drags on so slow
D G
Without you here it hurts you know
    C G D
But I go on with life without you here
     G
So I pray to the...God above
   C
To give me strength...just because
    G
You went away...way too soon
    C
But it’s okay
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
   C G
Oh how would I have ever known?
     D G
That God would take you back home
       C G D
But my heart is broken without you here
     G
So I pray to the...God above
    C
To give me strength...just because
    G
You went away...way too soon
    C
But it’s okay
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
   C G
So take me back home with you
D G
I don't know what else to do
     C G D
This place is not the same without you here
     G
So I pray to the...God above
   C
To give me strength...just because
    G
You went away...way too soon
    C
But it’s okay
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
           G
Because of Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
   C G
So now I'm back together with you
  D G
I can't believe how I've missed you
C G D
It's all perfect now that we're both here
     G
So I prayed to the...God above
   C
He gave me strength...just because
    G
You went away...way too soon
    C
But it’s okay
             G
Because it’s Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
             G
Because it’s Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
             G
Because it’s Christmas
      C
Oh oh oh oh
             G
Because it’s Christmas

    F C F C
The yeti smacked the yak and the yak smacked him back
        F C G C
And the yak and yeti were thrown out of town
    F C F C
The yeti ate the yak, he had him for a snack
    F C G C F C G C
And then he went back to Mongolian town
    F C G C F C G C
And then he went back to Mongolian town

        F C G C
In this lazy, crazy Mongolian town
    F C F C
The town blamed the yeti for eating all the s'ghetti
F C G C F C G C
So he ate the Mongolian town

God Only Knows - written May 9, 2011 at 6:18 PM and July 8-9, 2019. This song started 8 years ago.
Recently I was in the shower and started humming a song and it seemed really familiar. Come to find
out it was so I decided to revisit it.

That's Why I'm Asking You - written 7/15/2019 at 7:11 PM. Our grade school teacher has turned down our musician’s offer to go with him to Nashville.

G F C
We fit together
       G
Perfectly
         F C
Always together
      G
Hopefully
            F C
Let’s do forever
     G
Happily
           F C
Please say yes to me
       G
Eventually
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
        G
Go with me
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
G
Please
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
        G
Go with me

That’s why I’m asking you
G
Please
            F C
We like the same things
        G
You and me
                  F C
Let’s live life’s adventure
       G
Faithfully
           F C
So take my hand, my heart
        G
Completely
       F C
Please love me
G
Please
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
        G
Go with me
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
G
Please
               C F
That’s why I’m asking you
        G
Go with me
